K-GUY Londra, 1968
London based visual artist, K-GUY courts controversy and occasional
global attention with his pointed provoking art. Posted on the streets
and walls, he uses paste up, direct stencil and installations, plus a good measure of mischief and wit in his street messages, which he then
channels effectively into gallery output for a lasting statement.
K-GUY Londra, 1968
London based visual artist, K-GUY courts controversy and occasional global attention with his pointed provoking art. Posted on the streets and walls, he uses paste up, direct stencil and installations, plus a good measure of mischief and wit in his street messages, which he then channels effectively into gallery output for a lasting statement. Politicians, religious leaders, fast food outlets, and entire economic systems have all come under his perceptive cross-hairs, often to much discomfort. One of his most spectacular street installations was his memorial shrine to the boom economy when the markets crashed back in 2008 - a traffic stopper for nearly three days outside The Bank Of England in the heart of London’s City that made international news which is a feat considering it was pre-internet. His collaborations with The Prodigy on limited edition prints were an instant sell out and equally was his iconic Coke Moss piece, originally painted as a street piece for Mutate Britain. His striking installation ‘NO BLOOD ON YOUR HANDS’ was selected by an independent jury for the ‘No Holds Barred’ special project at Art Amsterdam to much critical acclaim. He produced a no-punches-pulled street piece for Pope Benedict’s visit to the UK, planting his ‘Primate Pontificate’ piece at the perimeter of the Papal Vigil in Hyde Park, London. K-Guy’s hallmark is a questioning intelligence, meticulous execution, and a willingness to take risks. Not everyone gets it, for those who do his appeal is apparent and enduring. He continues his subversive missions on the street along with occasional print release and has a highly appreciated gallery career taking him worldwide.-
