“Marilyn in Dior Dress – The Last Sitting” is a limited edition signed, dated and numbered in red with the photographic studio’s rubber stamp on verso. Artist’s Certificate of Authenticity 2011.
The artwork is part of a series of Marilyn Monroe’s pictures made by Bert Stern in June 1962 for the Vogue’s megazine in a three-day photo session at the Bel-Air Hotel in Los Angeles, a few weeks before the actress disapppeared.
A single document, fixed forever with the name Last Sitting, the last session. Some of the photos in the portfolio are considered too daring by Vogue’s publishers, who after the actress’s death have started publishing only eight. In 1992 a volume containing all the photographs is printed, titled “Marilyn Monroe – The Complete Last Sitting”.
